Odd, matched, baby socks and toddler socks, these are the donations needed by SANCCOB and the reason why they need them is so cute!

Cape Town, South Africa (05 November 2020) – Penguins may be known for their happy little feet but did you know they also get cold feet? This happens when they go into surgery so the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds (SANCCOB) is collecting little socks.

We love living in a world knowing that little socks help save penguin lives. The Table View branch of SANCCOB recently exposed a little truth about treating penguins that is just the cutest!

“We have a very important purpose for 2nd hand baby and toddler socks. The colour, thread count or being paired doesn’t matter at all. We place little socks on the birds’ feet and flippers to keep them warm during surgery to help maintain a constant body temperature. If you have socks to spare or odds with no purpose then please drop off at our centre at 22 Pentz Drive in Table View between 8 am & 5 pm, any day of the week. No ‘holey’ socks please and thanks in advance!”

Today the world is better because of this tit-bit of information so if you have baby socks and toddler socks, matching and odd, SANCCOB needs you! While you are at it, if you have towels and cleaning supplies, that helps too. You can check their wishlist here.

Take a look at the images they shared of the penguins wearing the socks below, it just melts your hearts!
