SANCCOB’s new coffee shop is already the talk of Table View! The Coffee Foundation is officially open and excited to serve all friends of seabirds.

Table View, South Africa (21 November 2024)— SANCCOB (Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds) has officially opened its new coffee shop just in time for the festive season!

Located at SANCCOB’s Visitor Centre based in Table View, The Coffee Foundation offers a dream come true for seabird lovers who double as coffee enthusiasts.

Boasting gorgeous views of the Rietvlei Nature Reserve and Table Mountain, the Coffee Foundation is just one more reason to visit the centre and support the team that is protecting, preserving, and providing hope for seabirds like the critically endangered African Penguin.

Each year, SANCCOB saves thousands of seabirds in both the Western and Eastern Cape from a myriad of challenges including oil spills, injury and starvation. Their rehabilitation efforts often turn into success stories thanks to an incredible network of rescuers, conservationists, volunteers and all the vets who make the seabird hospital a place of hope.

While many seabirds found in South Africa face complex challenges as urbanisation continues and environmental havoc ensues, at present it is the African Penguin on everyone’s lips.

As of last month, the African Penguin went from endangered to critically endangered. And without organisations like SANCCOB; their chances against extinction would be even slimmer.

In the context of it all, having a cup of coffee at the Coffee Foundation and visiting the centre to learn more about the seabird heroes isn’t a small adventure at all. It’s a nod to solidarity, support and a greater future for our waddlers!

Beyond great coffee and views people travel from all over the world to enjoy, there are sure to be a lot of fascinating conversations to be had over these penguin-approved cuppas as awareness is served.

You can visit the shop daily between 8 am and 4 pm.
