After going viral for all the wrong reasons, this sweet soul finally gets the love she’s always deserved.
Boksburg, Johannesburg (11 August 2025) – Bobby’s story started in heartbreak, captured in the background of a TikTok video, looking skeletal, abused, and defeated. But thanks to the swift intervention of the NSPCA and Boksburg SPCA, her life has completely turned around.
The NSPCA stepped in after the now-viral video sparked public concern, removing Bobby from a dire situation.
What they found was devastating. Bobby had been forced to eat plastic to survive. She was severely malnourished, suffering from fly strike, and covered in ticks and fleas, the NSPCA reported. Her condition was so poor that charges of animal cruelty have since been laid against her previous owners.
“The influencer sarcastically mocked the NSPCA, after hearing that we were on her trail. Now, she will be facing charges in terms of the Animals Protection Act, while Bobby walked out victorious against her cruelty,” the organisation shared.
This is when Bobby got her new beginning.
Once under the care of Boksburg SPCA and their dedicated kennel manager, Vicky, Bobby began to flourish.
“She is the most lovable dog, handing out kisses to everyone since the moment she arrived,” the SPCA added, in their post about her rescue.
As she recovered under loving care and kindness, just over two months later came the moment everyone was hoping for: adoption day.

The meeting with the family’s current dogs went smoothly, and soon Bobby was off to her forever home, where she’s already discovered that the kids’ beds are the cosiest place to nap.
She’s safe, she’s loved, and she’s finally home. And, justice will be served.
