Christmas Movies 2025

It’s time to switch on the twinkling lights, warm a batch of hot chocolate and watch all the Christmas Movies for 2025. Whether you are here for the new releases or looking for some classic inspiration, we have what you need.

South Africa (01 December 2025) – The Family Stone, one of my absolute favourite movies to watch at Christmas, is on Netflix this year, and yes, I watched it before any of the other classics. I was excited, and I am not sorry! I still cried, even after all these years and with Diane Keaton’s passing earlier this year, it feels even more touching.

On the very same day, I managed to binge on two other new Netflix movies, including A Merry Little Ex-Mas with Alicia Silverstone and Oliver Hudson (who was the first person I ever wrote about on Good Things Guy) with a guest appearance from Melissa Joan Hart. It was just enough cringe to make it funny, but not too much to make it a miss this year. The other one I watched on day 1 of my Christmas movie assignment was Champagne Problems. It was cute! Typical Hallmark vibes but in the new Netflix model. And who doesn’t want a reason to drink bubbles while feeling festive? – Side note for career prosperity, I didn’t get to have bubbles while watching, but you totally should!

Then came The Grinch… Because you simply cannot get into the festive spirit without a bit of “Fah who for-aze!, Dah who dor-aze! Welcome Christmas, Come this way!”

Since then, it’s been a whole lot of waiting for all the newbies to release (which starts this week, friends!). I have been saving all the trailers in a folder on my Facebook page. So let’s jump in, shall we?

Ok, so the first one to look forward to is not technically a movie, it’s a series (and a sequel) starring Rowan Atkins of Mr Bean fame. The series follows Atkins, who reprises his role as Trevor Bingley from Man vs. Bee, only this time it’s Christmas, and he has found himself in yet another spot of bother. Man vs. Baby is festive chaos wrapped in heartwarming laughter. Stream on Netflix.

Oh. What. Fun. is all about the moms. Mom, mom, mom… Well, Michelle Pfeiffer is a mom who does it all, and when her family accidentally “Home Alone’s” her, she calls it quits and heads off on a road trip to experience the Christmas she deserves. It’s star-studded and looks like a great laugh, plus it helps all the moms get seen for the tireless and simply fabulous effort they put into the holidays. Stream on Prime.

Giving the Festive season its annual dose of action is Jingle Bell Heist. Overworked and swindled, a disgruntled duo decide to pull off the ultimate get-rich-get-revenge heist to make the festive blues melt away. Starring Olivia Holt and Connor Swindells, this festive movie will probably keep those who are not fans of Hallmark movies, merry. It’s available to stream on Netflix.

If you are a boyband fan, the Jonas Brothers reunited for a festive fancy called “A Very Jonas Christmas Movie” which follows the real brothers/band on a fictional Christmas tour and how they rediscover the magic of being siblings. I am sure that some of the conflicts in the film are modelled on real-life niggles, which makes the film all the more relatable. Stream on Disney+.

There are a few more Hallmark-style movies which one can enjoy, but this year, there isn’t a massive selection of festive newbies. But that is ok, because we will always have the classics!
