If you live in Gqeberha and your rescue dog charms everybody’s socks off, read this!
Gqeberha, South Africa (20 November 2025) – Save-A-Pet Port Elizabeth is hosting its Rescue Dog Show on 30 November, and it’s calling on local rescues who have what it takes to be the next top doggie model.
The shelter looks after more than 230 dogs and cats at any given time, rescues animals in crisis, supports nearby informal communities with sterilisation, and works to place every adoptable pet in a stable, long-term home.
It’s important work, but it’s also expensive. This event helps keep it going.
Anyone with a rescue dog can enter to take part in the show. There categories are a lot of fun and we’re already excited to see the pictures! There’s Musical Sits, Cleverest Trick, Top Treat Catcher, Friendliest Pooch, Temptation Alley, Shiniest Coat, Magnificent Mixed Breed, Eclectic Ears, Scruffiest/Fluffiest and even a Senior round for the older dogs.
It’s fun, but it also brings aid to an organisation that needs it. Every R50 entry goes straight toward food, vet bills and necessary shelter upgrades. Spectators can support through purchasing tickets for R20, with kids under 10 entering for free.
Alongside the show there will be a vegan market with plant-based eats and artisan eco-conscious products for sale. The Wireless online radio station will bring the vibes.
Save-A-Pet rely on public support to survive. This show will help them cover the basics so they can keep taking in the animals who have nowhere else to go.
“Events like this not only raise vital funds but also build awareness around the joys of adopting rescue animals. It’s a chance for the community to come together, support local makers, and celebrate the special bond between people and their pets,” shares Save-a-Pet.
If you’re in Gqeberha and you’ve got a rescue dog, or you just want to support a shelter that genuinely shows up for animals, this is a fun way to do it.
It takes place on Sunday 30 November from 09:30 – 14:00 at Save-A-Pet Shelter in Greenbushes, Gqeberha.
