War Cry

The Kyalami Preparatory and Nursery School have embraced #BokFriday in the best way and created a war cry to help inspire the Springboks to fight hard for SA.

Kaylami, South Africa (06 October 2023) – The children at Kyalami Preparatory and Nursery School took up the challenge to support the Boks by wearing Springbok t-shirts and colours representing the Boks, every Friday during the World Cup. Now they have a war cry to help inspire the Boks too.

South Africans have taken on the challenge of creating videos and sending messages to the Springboks almost daily in the hopes of providing a never-ending supply of inspiration for the team to tap into.

One group that really hopes their message reaches the Boks, is the children from Kyalami Preparatory and Nursery School, who have been practising their war cry and made a very very cute video for the Springboks.

Speaking to the team from the school, they shared that they wanted to really go above and beyond with the inspiration and came up with their war cry. Each teacher taught their class the words and then the whole school came together to perform it.

“We wanted to, in Rassie’s words, “share in the gees”, and so a suggestion was made by a staff member to write a warcry and share a video with the Boks. One of our Prep School staff took up the challenge and wrote the lyrics and put a melody together to include marimbas and drums – this added our school’s flavour. Each staff member taught their particular Grade the words of the war cry and the magic happened!” – David Hala, Head ofKyalami Preparatory and Nursery School

While the Springboks may be on a break this weekend, we are still sporting our green and gold jerseys for BokFriday and loving all the gees South Africa is sharing today.

The video is super cute and we just had to share it. Let’s help all the children reach the Springboks with their message. You can find the lyrics listed below the video.

Die Bokke Hail by Titus Tshelane

Springboks, we want YOU to bring the trophy home!

Bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom
Springboks!
Bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom
Springboks!
Bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom
Die Bokke!

Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke

From the streets of Mzansi, hear our call
we are the warriors, standing tall!
With pride and passion,
on this field we stand,
to defend our honour

Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke

In the scrums and rucks, we stand as one!
Our spirits unwavering, our strength our guide.
With every tackle, and each try we score,
We’ll fight for glory, like never before.

Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke

Rise the Springboks, Rise the Springboks,
you boys are warriors.
Strong and bold, strong and bold, we are gunning for you.
In this battle, in this battle, we will seize the gold!
With teamwork, with teamwork, heart and might within
We will conquer, we will conquer all and proudly win!

Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke
Bayede, Die Bokke

We are growing, growing higher and higher
They are growing, growing higher and higher
We are growing, growing higher and higher
They are growing, growing higher and higher

Bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom
Springboks!
Bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom, bom
Die Bokke!
Die Bokke!
