A South African content creator’s video shoot turned into pure comedy gold after a group of hadedas repeatedly interrupted his takes.

South Africa (10 November 2025) – If you live in South Africa, chances are you have been rudely interrupted by a hadeda (or two… or ten). Whether it is early in the morning or right in the middle of something important, these birds seem to have a sixth sense for the worst possible timing.

A content creator by the name Xavier Mettler recently learned this the hard way while trying to film a video, and his followers cannot stop laughing. In the clip, he repeatedly restarts his recording, only to be met each time by the squawk of a hadeda in the background. It is chaos and classic South African relatability.

He captioned the post: “Hadeda are the bane of my existence,” and honestly, most South Africans can relate. Between their alarm-clock calls and their tendency to announce themselves, they have become an unavoidable part of everyday life.

Love them or hate them, hadedas are clearly here to stay,  reminding us that in South Africa, even the birds have personality.
