Africa has come in second as one of the top growing tourism industries in the world and South Africa comes in as a second favourite on the continent too!

Africa – Africa has the second-fastest growing tourism industry in the world, falling just behind Asia Pacific. In September this year, a report by African e-commerce company Jumia found that the tourism industry was booming.

They measured that around 67 million tourists visited various countries on the continent in 2018. This number is up by 7% from 2017.

Some of the most popular destinations in Africa included the aromatic souks of Marrakech to the quaint vineyards of the Cape. The top African tourist spots in 2018 were Morocco and South Africa, with around 10 and 11 million visitors per year.

It is no surprise that more people are taking pleasure in trips to the African continent. With favourable weather, remarkable wildlife and some of the friendliest people, African countries are taking their hospitability seriously.

Some of the most incredible destinations can be found here, not including the wonders of South Africa, there is Tanzania which is famous for its game reserves and its white-sand beaches, Kenya too has a deep-rooted heritage and cultural experiences that tourists love to witness.

With rainforests, beaches, bush and more, Africa is a wealth of experiences and adventures just waiting to be tapped by the global market.

As governments and businesses work to grow the opportunity for tourists, the future looks bright. Already government initiatives in Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa are driving more tourists and business to their countries.

This is all promising for the continent that has always been overlooked by the world. Today’s reach may be small, but someday, Africa could be the hottest continent for travel.

If you could go anywhere in Africa, where would you go?
