For too many children, a simple pair of glasses is the only thing standing between them and their full potential. This week, The Alive Foundation changed that story for 20 local learners!
Cape Town, South Africa (30 March 2026) – The Alive Foundation, a registered non-profit serving central Cape Town and its surrounding areas, believes in uplifting the community through action.
Most recently, their invaluable work reached Prestwich Street Primary School, where vision screenings through the Clear Vision for Learning Project were conducted on 31 children, 27 of whom were found in need of glasses, and one was referred to an ophthalmologist.
This week, with support from Esna van der Walt from Tomlinson Optometrists, the Foundation returned to the school bearing life-changing gifts. Twenty of the screened youngsters were presented with their new spectacles and can see clearly in class for the very first time!
Glasses are not a luxury; they are a basic tool for education. For many of these children, poor eyesight has gone unnoticed and has directly affected their ability to learn, focus, and participate in class.

The ongoing initiative helps learners see the board, their books, and their future. Even more touching, the initiative coincided with Alive Foundation’s Founder, Stephanie le Roux’s birthday, who only wished to celebrate it by supporting little people in need of her support.

Alive Foundation aims to uplift local schools and seniors in Cape Town, including nursing homes, hospitals and orphanages.
