Celebrating differences. Championing Inclusion. That is what Afrika Tikkun’s first-ever “Beauty In Ability” Pageant was all about – a platform for young people to take the stage and show that disability is not a limitation, but an important part of human diversity worth celebrating and embracing!

Randburg, South Africa (18 July 2025) – In Afrika Tikkun’s unwavering commitment to building a future of possibility, empowerment, and inclusion for all young people, it proudly hosted its inaugural Disability Day of Celebrating Abilities on Friday, 11 July 2025.

Under the leadership of Disability and Inclusion Head, Lana Roy, the event brought together youth, families, staff and partners in a vibrant celebration of ability, resilience, and community.

Hosted at The Cirk, the day’s theme, “Beauty in Ability”, echoed Afrika Tikkun’s core belief that every young person, regardless of ability, deserves the opportunity to thrive.

The event highlighted the talent, strength, and self-expression of 20 incredible youth with disabilities who took to the stage to dazzle and inspire audiences with their creativity and skills.

Through moving stories and dynamic talent showcases, attendees were inspired to challenge societal attitudes and misconceptions about disability.

It was a vibrant celebration of visibility, inclusion, voice, and the power of representation, offering a powerful counter-narrative to stigma and silence.

By positioning itself as a pioneer in inclusive youth development, Afrika Tikkun reinforced the importance of embracing diversity and fostering environments where everyone is valued.

“This day was about more than just celebration, it was about recognising the strength, talent and potential within every young person, regardless of ability,” said Roy.

The success of the Disability Day of Celebrating Abilities sets a new benchmark for inclusive programming and community engagement at Afrika Tikkun.

As the organisation continues to expand its impact, it remains dedicated to empowering youth, fostering hope, and building sustainable futures for all.
