With over 2.3 million views already, Chicken Licken’s original anthem has tapped into something deeper than marketing… it’s reminded South Africans who we are when we create together.

South Africa (23 December 2025) – South Africa has a way of coming together through music. It always has. This week, that familiar feeling returned as Chicken Licken unveiled an original anthem that feels loud, proud and unmistakably local.

A song that celebrates South Africa’s gift to the world: its soul.

As the culmination of the brand’s #SoulFood2TheWorld campaign, the four-minute music video brings together some of the country’s most respected and loved artists in a collaboration that goes far beyond advertising. It’s a reminder of who we are when creativity, culture and generosity collide. And South Africans have responded in big numbers.

Within days of its release, the video surged past 2.3 million views, with social media comments pouring in from across the country.

“This is awesome. Shout out to the Ad Agency that did this campaign. Brilliant ❤️”

“Africa Soul is the name of that Choir🔥”

“Been a while since we’ve seen anything like this ❤️”

The anthem features a powerful line-up of voices, including A-Reece, Karen Zoid, Boity, PJ Powers, Zoë Modiga, Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Arno Carstens, Timothy Moloi and Judith Sephuma. Just some of the artists who came together to give the song its depth, warmth and unmistakable South African texture.

Released on Monday, the 15th of December 2025, the music video launched across social media platforms and YouTube, marking the final chapter of the #SoulFood2TheWorld competition. The campaign saw thousands of South Africans entering via till-slip WhatsApp entries, sharing in R20 million worth of instant prizes.

The Ultimate Soulfluencer, who will win a trip anywhere in the world, is set to be announced during December.

But beyond the competition mechanics, the heart of the campaign lies in a simple idea: after decades of global support, South Africa has something meaningful to give back.

“Most great aid campaigns of yesteryear had a crowning jewel – an anthem that grabbed attention, lived in people’s hearts, and kept the mission front and centre,” says Xolisa Dyeshana, Chief Creative Officer at Joe Public. “We wanted to capture that same spirit with our original song. This is our moment to pay back the favour and flavour to the world.”

Written, composed and produced specifically for the campaign, the track honours the tradition of cause-driven anthems that once united generations, while firmly grounding itself in modern South African sound and identity. It tells the story of why, how and what it means to deliver Soul Food® to the world, unapologetically local, deeply expressive and rooted in pride.

“This anthem is about harnessing the unifying power of music to celebrate what makes South Africa special,” adds Adam Howard, Music Composer and Producer. “Our artists came together to create something that speaks to who we are as a nation – generous, vibrant, and ready to share our soul with the world.”

The music video will continue its journey well beyond its initial release, airing as 60-second and 45-second television commercials throughout December and running as Chicken Licken’s brand advertisement for a full year, ensuring the message keeps echoing long after the campaign closes.

Right now, the #SoulFood2TheWorld anthem is available across Chicken Licken’s Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube channels, with the song also streaming on Spotify. And judging by the reaction so far, it’s struck a chord, not just as a campaign, but as a shared moment of pride that reminds us how powerful it can be when South Africans create together and share their soul with the world.
