Moms and community members come together to bring colour and creativity with Project Hope, showing that every child is supported by the love around them.
Hillcrest, South Africa (18 November 2025) – Big events at Project Hope always come with big plans, and this weekend was no exception. Founded in 2020 and nestled in the Valley of a 1000 hills, Project Hope was born from the passion and vision of Registered Nurse, Sara Brown.
“We want to give every child under 5 years an awesome childhood.”
With a major event scheduled for early December, the team wanted to add some extra colour and life to their site. Nonto Gwamanda, the Early Childhood Development Programme Manager at Project Hope reached out to the children’s mothers for a little help, and what followed was nothing short of magical.
Lines of moms, buckets in hand, walked along the dusty valley roads ready to turn ideas into action. Their enthusiasm was contagious, sparking a weekend filled with laughter, collaboration, and creativity. Each stroke of paint was about brightening walls, but also a celebration of the families who support the children every day.
Project Hope’s approach has always been about connection. The organisation does not just work with children in isolation. It works with families, creating an environment where trust, respect, and love are at the core. For the children, this mural is a visual reminder of the care surrounding them.
As the day went on, the dusty valley transformed into a lively, colourful space, buzzing with energy and pride. Revealing how projects like this go beyond the aesthetic. It is about community, shared effort, and showing children that they are supported in every sense. For Project Hope, this was a weekend that perfectly illustrated their mission to walk alongside families every step of the way, and to celebrate the people who make it possible.
