Yellow is our happy colour, and last Friday, several Cape Town schools and companies were flooded with a vibrant wave of it as young and old came together to support children with ADHD.
Cape Town, South Africa (19 September 2025) – Last Friday, a wave of hope washed over Cape Town as schools, parents, teachers, and companies united to create a brilliant Sea of Yellow for ADHD awareness.
The event, organised by the Goldilocks and the Bear Foundation, was more than just a colour display; it was a powerful show of solidarity with children who often feel unseen. Learners filled their classrooms and playgrounds with bright yellow, each proudly donating R10 to stand with their peers.
“Together, we sent a powerful message: children with ADHD are not alone, and their struggles matter,” shares Goldilocks and the Bear Foundation Operations Manager, Juané Du Randt
“Thanks to your support, the funds raised will directly help the Foundation continue its work of providing free mental health screening and intervention for children in underprivileged communities.”
Each contribution ensures that more children can be identified early, supported in the classroom, and guided toward brighter futures.
Beyond the funds raised, the Sea of Yellow created something priceless: awareness. Teachers, parents, and learners had conversations about ADHD, breaking down stigma and replacing it with understanding, empathy, and encouragement.
Why the “Sea of Yellow” Matters
ADHD is one of the most common childhood conditions, yet many children remain undiagnosed and unsupported.
“With initiatives like the Sea of Yellow, we shine a light on these challenges while building a community that chooses inclusion and compassion over misunderstanding and judgment.”
Looking Ahead
This year’s Sea of Yellow was only the beginning. The wave of positivity, awareness, and generosity has inspired the Foundation to dream even bigger for 2026.
“Next year, we hope to see even more schools, more learners, and more South Africans turning yellow in solidarity,” Juané shares.
The Goldilocks and the Bear Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to every school and participant who joined this incredible movement.
“Together, we are changing lives, one learner, one school, one yellow shirt at a time.”
