A North Carolina teen – inspired by a longboarder drinking cranberry juice – just received a record deal for her cover of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac.

Global (15 October 2020) – It took just 10 days for the video – posted to TikTok – to land Lanie Gardner a record deal with the Jonas brothers!

It all started when a man filmed himself gliding down a highway on a longboard, drinking from a big plastic bottle of Ocean Spray Cranberry juice while lip-synching to Dreams, the song by Fleetwood Mac. The video immediately became a trend on TikTok with many people doing their own versions of the cool gliding motion using the song, but one young singer decided instead of longboarding, she would make a cover version.

And since then, Lanie has racked up millions of views. In fact, within ten days of the video going viral, Lanie’s cover gained over 20 million total views and 340 000 total followers.

Lanie’s jaw-dropping cover also caught the attention of Mick Fleetwood himself and Kevin Jonas Sr (father of the Jonas Brothers) who welcomed her to the “Jonas Group Entertainment” family.

The emerging alternative pop artist skillfully mixes the styles of Post Malone, Ella Mae, and Anderson Paak with her Classic Rock and Country roots.

“Music is in her blood,” says Lanie’s mother, “when other children dreamed of being astronauts and firefighters, Lanie never wavered from wanting to be a singer.”

Lanie is from Charlotte, North Carolina, and her passion for music was passed down by her grandfather, who also dreamed of becoming an artist. Lanie began singing at the age 4, and with the goal of creating music that saves people, she began writing songs at age 12. Along with Lanie’s “cool kid” sound, her laid-back, goofy, and magnetic personality has captivated social media users far and wide.

  1. Her voice goes far beyond the normal expectation of her age. It’s phenomenal that she hits all the nuances of the emotions that are needed for the vocal approach to the song Dreams. She also sounds like she could be channeling Stevie Nicks
from way back from ju actual sessions when it was recorded.
Job well done for one so young. My only hope is she makes good use of her voice with the recording contract that she has acquired from that viral video.
