Rand Park High celebrates a teacher whose guidance, discipline, and encouragement have shaped generations of learners both inside and outside the classroom.

 

Johannesburg, South Africa (26 March 2026) – After years of shaping young minds and guiding students of Rand Park High School through their academic journeys, Mr Deon Schmidt is preparing to hang up his chalk and step into retirement. But before he does, learners and colleagues made sure to send him off with heartfelt appreciation and fond memories.

Throughout his career, Mr Schmidt has been a mentor, a guide, and a steady presence in the lives of countless students.

Students from various grades took the time to express their gratitude, sharing stories of how his encouragement and support made a difference.

The school highlighted his dedication not only to teaching but also to fostering a positive and inspiring school environment.

“Beyond academics and sport, his commitment to our learners has been deeply felt in his role as a grade tutor. He has provided steady support, discipline, and encouragement, always placing the well-being of his learners first,” the school shared.
