Gauteng may be shining in numbers for this year’s Miss South Africa Top 16 cohort, but our other provinces are far from out for the count! Meet the Top 16 queens:
South Africa (01 July 2024) — From Soweto to Mpumalanga, this year’s Miss SA Top 16 queens have each brought their own sparks to the competition this year as they represent their unique communities on the crown-chaser’s path. But, one province seems to have strength in numbers, with 9 of the Top 16 hailing from Gauteng.
Could reigning Miss South Africa Natasha Joubert‘s baton be passed on to a fellow Gautenger? Or will a province weaker in numbers take the throne?

Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina
Hailing from Soweto, Chidimma wears many hats. She’s a model, netball player and Law student who lives by the motto “dreams are valid when actions are taken” and has her sights set on making positive change against gender-based violence for women and children.

Representing Kempton Park, Layla Zoubair believes in being outspoken, outgoing and thriving on challenges. Driven by curiosity and pushing past her own limitations, she’s said to be a lover of experiences and personal development.

Lethaukuthula Ayanda Maseko
Dubbed the “Diamond From Daveyton”, this Gautenger dreams of inspiring others to shine in their own ‘self-authorship’ no matter the rubble of circumstances that may surround them. A tough diamond at that, Lethaukuthula’s circumstances did not lend her to crumble, but rather to explode with an inner-power she hopes to share with everyone.

Another rising star from Soweto, Taahira hopes to lend her well-travelled experiences from all over the globe and degree in Social Science to make positive contributions to mental health organisations.

Naledi Matlakala
From Midrand, Naledi believes “Information IS Transformation”. As a B Com Law student with a BA in Psychology and Criminology, Naledi’s love of learning has sparked a desire in her to make information and the necessary resources more accessible to underserved communities in a better and more inclusive way.

Ontshiametse Tlhopane
The aspiring model from Soweto has already founded #SafeHere, an organisation she hopes will make children’s lives better, safer and more prosperous. Beyond her empathy to the children of our country and her modelling dreams, Ontshiametse also has qualifications in Criminology.

Making her community proud is Nobuhle from Emalahleni, whose dream is to meet Gift of the Givers’ Imtiaz Sooliman. An audit trainee on her way to becoming a Chartered Accountant, Nobuhle is also the founder of the Langelihle Youth Foundation.

Mia represents both the Free State (where she was born) and the place she grew up—the Western Cape. Despite being diagnosed with hearing loss in her very early life, she learned the power of community when people rallied together to help her hear again. This has sparked a special desire in her to uplift others.
