Nine universities of South Africa have been listed in the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), 2021, in which the top 1 000 universities had been listed overall.
South Africa (20 August 2021) – South Africa has been stepping up its game in many sectors including sports and now it shows its excellence in the educational sectors too. Among the top 1000 universities listed in the Shangai Ranking Consultancy’s Academic ranking 2021, nine universities from South Africa have made it to the list.
Two local universities, Stellenbosch University and the University of Pretoria ranked among the top 500 globally.
UCT (University of Cape Town) ranks within the top 50 globally for Environmental Science & Engineering and Oceanography. Wits, another reputed college, ranks among the top 100 list for Mining & Mineral Engineering and Public Health (both within the 76-100 range).
The University of Johannesburg takes 18th place globally in the sector of Hospitality and Tourism Management, the highest-ranked field of the country.
The University of KwaZulu Natal, University of South Africa, University of the Free State and North-West University are the four other reputable universities that had made it to the ranking list, bringing pride to the nation.
This marks yet another milestone SA has managed to achieve in the year 2021. With high hopes and determination, they plan to extend their talents in many other sectors in the near future. So, it is safe to say that we can expect more news about achievements made by South Africa.
