Rescue Dogs to Strut Runway in Designer Fashion Show

TEARS’ finest pooches are about to turn the catwalk into a dogwalk!

Cape Town (16 October 2025) – Next month, a line-up of TEARS Animal Rescue’s most runway-ready doggies will strut their stuff at a high fashion show in Cape Town.

A line-up of SA’s top designers will be tasked with transforming thrifted fashion into fresh couture for the show.

Looks from Me&B, Lara Klawikowski, Manila Von Teez, Mareth Colleen, and VictorK Couture will be featured. Students from Cape Town College of Fashion Design, Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion Design, and the Fashion Institute of Garment Technology will also be taking part.

It’s not your usual fashion show; it’s even better because dogs are involved.

Models will take the runway alongside TEARS’ rescues. Every dog in the show is up for adoption and needs a loving family. Guests will have the opportunity to meet and give them a cuddle throughout the evening. If the interest is there, applications can be made.

The event will support TEARS in more ways than one.

All ticket sales will go towards the rescue shelter, and selected items from the evening will be auctioned off, with all proceeds donated to the organisation. There will also be a donations drive with pledge options available for all budgets. Contributions will support TEARS’ vital services, from vaccinations and sterilisations to collars, leads, and tick and flea treatments.

The event will be happening on 13 and 14 November at Simons Restaurant, Groot Constantia. Tickets can be purchased here. It is being sponsored by Hills Pet Nutrition, which is how all the proceeds are able to be given directly to TEARS.

The initiative comes just over a month after a fire struck the animal shelter. Thankfully, all animals were saved but the facility has unfortunately seen major damage to its kennels. The team is now rebuilding, with aid from community and organisations who have chipped in to help.
