The festive season isn’t always “jingle all the way” and some people may need a few extra tools to cope with the season; SADAG has put together several tools to offer support to those who need it most.

 

South Africa (15 December 2022) – The festive season doesn’t always bring joy to all; it can be a very triggering time too, having to face critical family members, social events and even added financial stresses. For anyone feeling dread about the festive season, this one is for you!

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group, also known as SADAG, is sharing tips to help people who are facing depression, anxiety and general dread over the holidays.

“Stress level’s tend to peak during this time of the year as we are all inundated with unfinished work, family gatherings, Christmas shopping and more. When you are feeling overwhelmed it is important to take a step back and breathe. We have some helpful tips for you to use if you’re feeling like its getting too much for you.” – SADAG

The team has put together a festive tool kit to help anyone and everyone cope with their mental health this holiday season. Should you need a little extra support this month, check out the website here.

The team have also shared how family can support a loved one who is suffering from a mental illness. That way, the whole family understands each other’s needs during this time. They have filled their social media pages with advice so if you are scrolling, be sure to check out Facebook or Instagram for more.

And finally, if you need to speak to someone, they have a WhatsApp support line that runs seven days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. Just say “Hi” on 076 882 2775 to speak to someone who understands.
