This year the Santa Shoebox Project recieved enough pledges to reach their goal of 1 million shoeboxes, a massive success!
South Africa (17 December 2020) – The Santa Shoebox Project was started in 2006 with only 180 boxes being handed out. Fast-forward to this year, the project started the year with a total 858 673 boxes and hoped to hit 1 million.
They recently announced their success having handed out their 1 millionth shoebox to the 1 millionth child. Every year, we feel our hearts grow as the photos from the Santa Shoebox Project start popping up online. The smiling, happy children beam with joy when they get their boxes and open them to see all the treats they have been gifted.
This year a photo (seen above) was taken of the 1 millionth child with the 1 millionth box has us feeling overjoyed.
“In a year with every odd stacked against us, TOGETHER we acknowledged the importance of JOY and HOPE in a child’s life.
YOU saw value in supporting the Santa Shoebox Project, honouring and uplifting underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia – enabling the Project to reach its ONE MILLIONTH, beneficiary child.
This year 60 444 children were blessed by YOU, with a gift of essential items and treats – bringing light into an otherwise very bleak year.
Now it’s time to spend time with those we love – because LOVE is, after all, the most important thing of all.
Thank you for sharing your love with the Santa Shoebox Project children in 2020.”
Book Dash has been placing books in the Santa Shoeboxes and they too celebrated their 1 millionth book.
