This October marks the first of a very exciting yearly event called ‘Shades Day’ which aims to help the SA Guide Dog Association raise funds for their incredible projects.
South Africa (05 September 2024) – The South African Guide-Dogs Association is joining the sticker day celebrations in South Africa by founding ‘Shades Day’. The day will be dedicated to raising funds for the organisation’s various life-changing projects and takes place on the 18th of October 2024.
‘Wear Your Shades Day’ is a national campaign that aims to support visually impaired and awareness about eye health. But why sunglasses? Well, sunglasses are essential for maintaining optimal eye health. They reduce the impact of UV radiation, glare and light sensitivity.
For visually impaired people, sunglasses can be more than just protection; they also help people feel more integrated and less conspicuous. Sunnies even boost confidence!
The South African Guide-Dogs Association has been around for the past 71 years, helping around 1,000 disabled individuals each year by breeding, raising and training assistance dogs for visually impaired, physically disabled and children on the Autism spectrum. They also work to provide long cane training for people of all ages.
All the work is done free of charge, so it is essential to raise funds. The hope is to sell 50,000 stickers this year. So, if you are ready to #ShareYourShine, you can find out how below:
