The group sang as people gathered to watch the sunset, with the moment attracting both in-person and online interest.
Cape Town, South Africa (04 February 2026) – A quiet sunset in Cape Town became something memorable when the Thanda Choir began singing, turning an ordinary evening into an unexpected musical moment.
As people sat watching the sun set behind the city, the choir performed Uthando, filling the space with warm harmonies. There was no stage and no formal setup, just voices rising.
Phones also slowly came out to record this special moment. Thanda Choir has long been celebrated for taking South African choral music to the world. From their beginnings in Cape Town, the group has gone on to perform internationally, earning recognition for their discipline, sound and storytelling through music. Seeing them deliver that same magic at home, in such an informal setting, made the moment feel even more personal.
It became less about watching the sunset and more about sharing the experience together.
The video shared online has been met with love, as it has over half a million views. Moments like these highlight what Thanda Choir does best: creating connection through music. Whether performing on international stages or singing as the sun sets at home, the choir continues to remind audiences of the power of harmony, communit,y and simply being present.
