Trevor Noah Born a Crime Movie

Trevor Noah’s book ‘Born A Crime’ has been confirmed as a new upcoming movie. Actress Lupita Nyong’o celebrated the news with an exciting announcement regarding her role in it.

Trevor Noah published ‘Born A Crime’ in November 2016. The book has since won the James Thurber Prize for American Humor and two NAACP Image Awards.

The book shares stories of Trevor’s life and growing up in South Africa with a black mother and white father during Apartheid. Part of the book also focuses on his mother growing up and living in a mud hut with 14 other people. The movie adaption will have a strong focus on his mother’s strength.

Trevor is producing the project through his Ark Angel Productions alongside Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin of Mainstay Entertainment along with Nyong’o

Lupita Nyong’o made the announcement on her Instagram account by sharing an image of her and Trevor (see title image above).

“When I read Trevor Noah’s “Born A Crime,” I could not put the book down. Excited to announce that I will be starring in and producing its feature film adaptation! #BornACrime”

Trevor reposted Lupita’s post and expressed his excitement of her playing the role of his mother.

“My mom is a powerful woman who could easily be one of the beautiful soldiers in Wakanda. So it’s beyond a perfect fit that she would be portrayed on the big screen by the radiant and regal Lupita Nyong’ o. I’m beyond excited.”

We are so excited to see a yet another South African movie take the global stage and cannot wait to go watch it in the cinema. What are your thoughts?
