South African artists Tyla and Makhadzi celebrated major wins at the 2024 BET Awards, showcasing their exceptional talent and global impact.

 

Global (01 July 2024) – South Africa’s immense talent continues to make waves globally, and this year’s BET Awards showcased the exceptional achievements of two of the country’s brightest stars: Tyla and Makhadzi.

Their victories not only highlight their individual talents but also shine a spotlight on the rich cultural landscape of South African music.

The 2024 BET Awards, known as culture’s biggest night, was a celebration of Black excellence and creativity, with artists from across the globe coming together to honour outstanding accomplishments. Among these were South Africa’s own Makhadzi and Tyla, who both received prestigious awards, making their mark on the international stage.

Makhadzi: A Rising Star

Makhadzi took home the award for “Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act.”

This award recognizes the incredible impact she has had on the music scene with her energetic performances and unique sound. Makhadzi’s journey from local performer to international sensation is a testament to her hard work, talent, and the unwavering support of her fans.

Her captivating performances and innovative music have earned her a dedicated global fanbase and critical acclaim. Tyla’s success at the BET Awards is a significant milestone in her career, reflecting her dedication and the powerful connection she has forged with audiences worldwide.

The recognition of Makhadzi and Tyla at the BET Awards is a proud moment for South Africa and the African continent as a whole. Monde Twala, Senior Vice President & Co-General Manager of Paramount Africa & Lead BET International, expressed the network’s commitment to showcasing African talent on a global stage.
