The South African international popstar just scooped her second gilded gramophone at the 68th annual Grammy Awards.
Los Angeles, United States (02 February 2026) – Just a day after celebrating her twenty-fourth birthday, South Africa’s worldwide pop sensation, Tyla, has scooped her second Grammy!
The annual awards ceremony took place in Los Angeles on Sunday evening. One of South Africa’s own, Trevor Noah, hosted the event for his sixth consecutive and final run.
Dozens of artists celebrated their Grammy wins, including Olivia Dean as Best New Artist, Lady Gaga for Best Pop Vocal Album, Billie Eillish for Best Song of the Year, and Kendrick Lamar with SZA for Best Record of the Year.
Tyla scooped her second grammy in the Best African Music Performance category for her hit single, Push 2 Start! She’s made history along with it, becoming the first artist to win the category twice.
The Chanel star rocked the red carpet dressed in gold, with an archival look designed by Dsquared2 and bling by Pandora. According to Times Live, an overwhelming number of red carpet interviews delayed her from accepting the award in person.

Her award-winning Push 2 Start single, released in 2024, was a worldwide hit. It currently stands at over 444,000 000 streams on Spotify and over 136,000 000 on YouTube.
The single trumped other top competitors in the category including With You by Davido featuring Omah Lay, Love by Burna Boy, Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin and Gimme Dat by Ayra Starr featuring Wizkid.
Fellow South African and Grammy awards host Trevor Noah was also nominated in the category of Best Audiobook, Narration and Storytelling Recording for his book, Into the Uncut Grass. He lost to the Dalai Lama, who, at 90, accepted his very first Grammy award for his book, Meditations: The Reflections Of His Holiness The Dalai Lama.
