Global (16 December 2023) – South African sensation Tyla has not only made waves but has become a tidal force, recently reaching an extraordinary milestone as her single, “Water,” claims the number one spot on various charts, and now she has something even bigger to reveal — her debut album.

Tyla, a 21-year-old Joburger, has taken the music world by storm over the past year, and her journey is nothing short of remarkable. Breaking barriers, setting records and getting Grammy nominations, the talented artist has become the first artist from South Africa to grace the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 in over half a century.

As the infectious rhythm of “Water” continues to captivate audiences, the track recently made a splash on Billboard’s “Rhythmic Airplay” chart, claiming the coveted top spot on the December 16th listing. This triumph follows the song’s enduring success on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, where it has remained a reigning champion for three consecutive weeks. Tyla’s unique sound has seamlessly blended with various genres, securing her a solid position on the R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, further solidifying her status as a rising star.

But the excitement doesn’t end there.

Tyla has just unveiled the exciting news of her debut album, aptly titled “Tyla,” and fans couldn’t be more thrilled. The announcement came with a sneak peek into the album’s artwork and a partial tracklist, teasing listeners with the titles of three new songs, including the highly anticipated “Truth or Dare” and “On And On.”

Expressing her joy and gratitude, Tyla shared, “Everything that’s happening has surpassed anything I could have dreamt of. African music is going global, and I’m so blessed to be one of the artists pushing the culture. I’ve been working on my sound for 2 years now, and I’m so ready for the world to hear it. I cannot wait for the world to experience an African Popstar.”

The debut album promises to be an experimental journey, encapsulating the rich diversity of African popular music, with hints of amapiano and a fusion of Western pop, hip hop, and R&B. The tracklist includes the lead single “Water” alongside other eagerly anticipated tracks such as “Butterflies” and “Truth or Dare.” Notably, the album will feature a collaboration with rap icon Travis Scott, adding another layer of excitement to this musical revelation.

As she gears up for her debut concert tour starting in March 2024, Tyla is poised to continue making history, bringing the infectious beats of South Africa to audiences around the world. And we are here for all of it!
