The Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need team met Deslyn after he saved a puppy found tied up in a paper bag; he became an animal hero and now they are repaying his good deed in the best way!
Oudtshoorn, South Africa (24 January 2023) – The Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need (ODIN) team were left in awe of a man named Deslyn. Deslyn is currently living on the streets and one fortuitous day, he happened to find a puppy tied up in a paper bag at the local dump. He acted quickly to save its life and became a celebrated animal hero in his town.
The ODIN team were moved to help change Deslyn’s circumstances so they started thinking of ways to do so. They really need an extra hand to help on the ground in the local communities, so the team have started raising funds to house, cloth and employ Deslyn.
This opportunity is a big one for both ODIN and Deslyn as it will address two big needs; Deslyn’s need for support and a chance, and ODIN’s need for eyes and ears on the ground in their fight to protect as many animals as they can.
“We have taken a leap of faith and are now training him up as assistant to our outreaches and yesterday was the first day ..
AND WHAT A CHAMPION … he handles the crowds with ease ..he knows the community and can react on an instruction in seconds”
The team is hoping to raise enough funds to cover the cost of a proper uniform, which will be around R2000.00, plus they need the monthly fee to pay for a single room within the community. Generous donors have committed to small monthly donations which when added up, will hopefully cover the cost of the room. A few have also donated a bed and bedding to make it more homely.
Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need is committed to making this a lasting difference but coming from a small town, funding is very tight. If you would like to support the team in this life-changing opportunity, you can reach out via the Facebook page here to discuss it further with the team.
