The Terminator thinks the guy who kicked him might need some ice for his foot!
Johannesburg, South Africa (20 May 2019) – Arnold Schwarzenegger was assaulted during a public appearance in South Africa on Saturday, but the 71-year-old appeared to recover quickly.
On Saturday, a video went viral of the former Republican governor of California at an Arnold Classic Africa event in Johannesburg when a man “dropkicked” Schwarzenegger from behind.
The video shows Schwarzenegger standing and filming children at a sporting event when a man makes a flying kick into his back. Schwarzenegger stumbles forward. The man is quickly grabbed by security.
The Terminator wasn’t hurt but appeared briefly startled but shook it off immediately and released a statement on Twitter.
“Thanks for your concerns, but there is nothing to worry about. I thought I was just jostled by the crowd, which happens a lot. I only realised I was kicked when I saw the video like all of you. I’m just glad the idiot didn’t interrupt my Snapchat.”
A formal statement was also released by Arnold Classic Africa calling the man who kicked him, a “crazed fan” and explaining that the perpetrator had been handed over to the police. They believe that the incident was carefully planned as the offender apparently is known for orchestrating similar incidents in the past.
Schwarzenegger announced on Sunday that he would not be pressing charges against the man and added that he might want to get some ice for his foot after kicking “a metal skeleton”.
“I didn’t feel it when he kicked me, but anyway I love South Africa, and I have been coming here since the sixties because my mentor and hero – Reg Park – was from South Africa.”
