Young Ameer has learned the valuable lesson of sharing after doing his first half-day fast for Ramadan; he visited AWS to donate food to the cats.
Cape Town, South Africa (10 May 2021) – The Animal Welfare Society of South Africa (AWS) received a surprise visitor last week Friday. Young Ameer took part in his first half-day fast for Ramadan and afterwards learned the valuable lesson of sharing.
Ameer’s family is currently fasting for Ramadan. They hoped to teach him that the fast was less about being hungry and more about sharing. There are many lessons one can learn about sharing, and Ameer’s family decided to do a lesson in giving back.
Ameer was tasked with going through his toys and selecting the ones he loved but didn’t need any longer. He then gifted those to a children’s home. Ameer then went on to the shops where he and his family bought some groceries for people in need. Ameer also wanted to contribute, so he took some money he has saved in his moneybox and bought two tins of cat food.
The family visited a nursing home to drop off the groceries, and then Ameer got to hand over his tins of cat food to the team at AWS.
“Needless to say Ameer’s thoughtfulness left an indelible impression on all of us and we wanted to publicly say thank you to this remarkable young man and his amazing family for including animals in their circle of compassion.” – Allan Perrins, AWS Communications Officer
Ameer’s extraordinary deed left the team feeling proud of the young man’s actions. One of the pillars of Ramadan is community, and Ameer has done well to uplift his community through his kind actions.
