Andrew Draper, a talented chef and caterer, has turned ingredients meant for a wedding into 1000 warm meals for people in need.

Durban, South Africa (13 July 2021) – Caterer Andrew Draper got a dreaded phone call; the wedding he had started catering for was cancelled. Thankfully, the couple asked if Andrew could please still use the food and perhaps help them donate cooked meals to people in need.

The wedding was cancelled due to the current riots and looting. While many people have taken advantage of the situation, there are many more who are stepping up to do some good!

Andrew and the couple agreed that feeding those in need deserved to be supported despite the chaos. Andrew put out a call for help, he had the food but needed containers to be able to package the cooked meals once he was done.

Andrew’s community rallied and they collected over 1000 containers. This means 1000 people have been fed a warm meal.

Some of the meals have been designated to feed the elderly at old-aged homes while others will still be decided but all the food will keep people fed today.

The couple may not be celebrating with their loved ones over a delicious three-course meal but tonight, they can enjoy their own home-cooked meal all while knowing that 1000 people will also get a wholesome dinner.
