Mama Rosie is an inspirational South African who started an orphanage in Khayelitsha. It all started the day she found a little boy on her doorstep in 2000. Without hesitating, she took him in and cared for him. She was known for caring for the children as she ran a free daycare and fed the hungry children in her community.

“I made a deal with God, promising to look after these children if he promised to provide me with the resources to take care of these kids,” – Mama Rosie

She named the orphanage Baphumelele which means “we have progressed”. Since the beginning, the organisation has grown and now has multiple ways of helping the community.

“We have a medical clinic for children and another facility for adults. We care for those who have HIV/AIDS and other chronic diseases, such as cancer, tuberculosis, diabetes, and (we) operate a hospice for children.”

When her children grow up, she helps them find employment or they work in the Rosie’s Bakery. She also assists in feeding child-headed households.

This inspirational woman deserves the backing of the entire country, so let’s repay her for all her hard work.

You can vote for Mama Rosie here, let’s get her to number one! You can vote for her 30 times a day, 10 times with your email login, 10 times with Facebook and 10 times with Facebook messenger.
