Grade 8 Dancer Chandni Kistasamy has been selected to dance at Disney’s Magic Kingdom for its Diwali parade later this year!

Fourways, South Africa (15 April 2025) — A Grade 8 dancer has caught the attention of Disney’s Magic Kingdom.

Chandni Kistasamy is a learner at Crawford International Lonehill. But, when she’s not hitting the books, she’s nurturing her creative talents—specifically Indian Classical dance.

Determination and talent in tandem, Chandni recently received a ‘fairytale’ opportunity—the chance to perform at Disney’s Magic Kingdom as part of the Diwali parade. Chandni beat out numerous other hopeful dancers from around the world to claim her spot at the Kingdom (thousands, according to her school). This is a significant deal for any ambitious dancer and performer, let alone one who has only just begun her high school studies.

Though the event is only on the books for October (Diwali season), the Fourways community are already teeming with excitement and counting down the days until the Grade 8 dancer shares her magic of movement with the world.

Her school got the head start in congratulating her, followed by the I Love Fourways social media group (which bubbled over with congratulatory messages).

What’s most beautiful about her opportunity is that it’s connected so many different communities—her school, Indian Classical dance lovers, Fourways and of course, Disney fans. And, considering how early into a dance career she is, it could certainly set the tone for many more moments in which she dazzles crowds and inspires other dreamers.
