A Family trust in Gugu Zulu’s name has been started for those that would like to give back to one of South Africa’s most charitable people.

The news that racing car driver Gugu Zulu has died has been met with anguish, shock and sadness.

The 38-year-old was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with his wife, Letshego Zulu, and other well-known South Africans as part of the Trek4Mandela initiative.

Two days ago he posted an Instagram photo of him and his wife saying she was doing well, but he was experiencing flu-like symptoms.

According to “GAS Sports”… a trust has been set up in honour of Gugu Zulu, in order to look after his little baby, Princess Zulu and wife, Letshego.

Stephen Watson from GAS Sports chatted to GoodThingsGuy about why they set up the Trust…

“Gugu Zulu was a longstanding friend and a partner in GAS Sports – he is the ‘G’ in GAS Sports and our mission was to turn the South African Superbike championship – The SupeGP Champions Trophy – into a world class sports property.”

“Gugu used his name and time to give to charities, instead of enriching himself – there is a common misperception that he was wealthy but this is far from the truth. We are setting up the trust in an effort to help Letshego and Lelethu.”

The Facebook post has been shared thousands of times and is already gathering momentum on social media. Here’s the full transcript with banking details if you would like to add your voice to the cause.

Dear Friends of Gugu Zulu,

With Letshego’s permission, we have opened the bank account for the Gugu Zulu Family Trust we are establishing for the family, through Waterford Financial Management.

Gugu always gave of his time to charities and used his good name to raise funds for others. It is now time for us to give back and to ensure his beautiful wife and daughter are looked after.

This is the best gift we can give a man who always gave the best of himself to us all. It is our goal to raise enough funds to see little Lelethu (princess Zulu) through her schooling and to bless Letshego, allowing her to grieve, safe in the knowledge that her family will be looked after.

Please give back, even if you can only manage a little.

The account details are:

Account Name: Waterford – Gugu Zulu Family Trust

Bank: Nedbank Limited

Branch Code: 198765

Savings Account: 9019592539

These funds will be placed into the Gugu Zulu Family Trust which is in the process of being established.

We can be contacted at info@gas-sports.com or stephen@gas-sports.com for any additional information.
