Happy Lovemore Khumalo, a Santa Shoebox recipient from the age of six, has landed her dream job with the team, helping make sure every child gets a box.
South Africa (19 May 2023) – The Santa Shoebox Project reaches further than any of us could imagine, touching the lives of hundreds of thousands of children in South Africa every festive season. They rely on a team of dedicated people to make sure every step of the process runs smoothly. Happy Lovemore Khumalo has joined the team it’s a story for the ages!!!
The Santa Shoebox Project was started in 2006 as a way for people to provide gifts to children who often go without during the festive season. The first roll-out saw just 180 gift boxes distributed to children in need. In 2020, that number crossed the 1 million mark. To date, 1,152,587 children have been gifted Santa Shoeboxes in South Africa and Namibia.
Happy was 6 years old when she received her first Santa Shoebox, today she is officially part of the IT team to make sure the website and other technical aspects run smoothly. She is busy with her training and so excited!
“Meet the newest member of our Head Office Cast, 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐊𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐨. Happy is officially our IT Minion, in training to learn all things, system-related.
This self-starter, with a passion for giving back, was a #SantaShoebox beneficiary when she was just 6-years old. What a 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐠𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 she is!”
In the next few months, calls for Santa Shoebox pledges will begin to come in. We will be sure to share when that happens.
While there may not always be jobs open, the team always welcomes volunteers! You can find out how to be a volunteer here.
