Licence - Santa Shoebox gifter generously offers to pay for teen's driving licence

A Santa Shoebox donor has moved everyone to tears with their generosity, offering to pay for their pledge’s driving licence.

South AfricaSanta Shoebox is a unique project that brings the joy of Christmas to children and teens who would probably not receive anything on Christmas day due to poverty.

The Santa Shoebox Project is one of South Africa’s best-loved children’s charities and has touched the lives of well over 858 673 underprivileged children throughout South Africa and Namibia. The Project, which is now in its thirteenth year, is an inspiring community initiative, that collects uniquely personalised gifts for underprivileged children. Equally, the project is about parents teaching their children the Joy of Giving.

“When a donor pledges a Santa Shoebox, they promise a child the gift of self-worth and fulfilled potential. These are so much more than “just” a shoebox; each donor fills a decorated shoebox with 8 required items – a toothbrush and toothpaste, soap and a facecloth, school supplies, a toy, sweets and an outfit of clothing.”

The handout of boxes has started, and the Santa Shoebox Facebook page is being flooded with happy little faces; it is an incredibly heartwarming project to watch each year.

This year, however, one donor from Secunda has us all blubbering! The teen boxes are often the hardest to shop for because you never know what a teen might enjoy. Teens are also on the cusp of becoming too cool for things, so that can be tough.

During the handout of boxes, one teen received a letter in his box, he opened it and read it where he learned that the donor who pledged his box has offered to pay for his licence.

All the feels! All the tears!!!

Learning to drive and being able to take that first step into adulthood is a big deal and not something many South Africans have the luxury of doing. This gift is possibly one of the best we have ever seen, it has given us full-body chills watching as the young man reads his good news out for the room.

“Whoever you are who did this (this donor is from Secunda)… we are speechless at your kindness and our hearts are FILLED TO THE BRIM with joy for this young man.” – Santa’s Shoebox

Grab a tissue and watch the video below, his smile is the best part.
