South Africa’s Springboks are now celebrating life’s victories off the field as they welcome new “little bokkies” and grow their families.

South Africa (03 September 2025) – Rugby fans might be celebrating the Springboks’ tries in the ongoing Rugby Championship. However, some of the players are celebrating a different kind of celebration. One that also comes with a kick. That is parenthood! Several Bok stars and their partners are either expecting their little bokkies or getting ready to welcome a second little one into their families.

Eben and Anlia Etzebeth are among those expanding their family. The lock and his wife, who is also a singer and actress, welcomed their first child at the start of 2024. Just a few months later, Anlia revealed on Instagram that baby number two is already on the way, posting a glowing snapshot with her growing bump.

Another couple embracing this exciting chapter is Handré and Marise Pollard. The fly-half and his wife became parents for the first time in April. They will soon be adding a daughter to the family, with Marise sharing a sweet post about her pregnancy.

“Pilates in front of the fireplace with rain falling on the farmhouse sink roof, happy Monday & 22 weeks baby girl.”

Meanwhile, fan favourite Faf de Klerk and his wife Mine de Klerk are also preparing for their household to grow. They welcomed their first child in February 2024 and recently shared the happy news that they are expecting a baby girl in November.

And it is not just the veterans adding to their families. Edwill and Nadine van der Merwe announced in July that they are expecting their first child together, with Edwill captioning their post:

“Half of me and half of you.”

For South Africans, these stories bring the players a little closer to home. We cheer for them as champions on the world stage, but also as parents and partners stepping into new roles.
