A surprise opera unfolded at the V&A Waterfront recently after the ever-elegant violinist many mall-goers will know, was joined by the voice of an angel disguised as a shopper!

Cape Town, South Africa (09 May 2025) — On some days, the sound of a violin trembles so intensely, you’re called to put off your errands and follow the music. On other days, you might just encounter it in full, fierce swing as you trudge up the escalator (arms loaded with shopping bags) and realise that your day just got a lot better because you picked that route at the mall. Indeed, the violinists who play at the V&A Waterfront have turned many a dull shopping trip into something other-worldly. And recently, a surprise opera unfolded thanks to the voice of an angel disguised as a fellow shopper.

Whilst shopping, Brian Van Hansen encountered and shared one of those rare and powerful moments that makes one remember that some humans hide a great deal of magic.

Simiso Radebe was playing his violin at the mall when a visitor named Blandine brought the vocals element to the performance to create a surprise opera that usually one would have to buy tickets to enjoy.

Brian shared that he “had to stop to record this spontaneous performance”; adding further that Blandine surprised everyone with her incredible voice.

As for Blandine, little is known of her at present. Should you have more information, please share it with us via info@goodthingsguy.com!
