An elderly woman fell and couldn’t get back up. Two security officers put on their hero badges.

Cape Town, South Africa (12 January 2026) – We’ve seen security guards go way beyond their call of duty, so many times! They’ve turned into the helpers we all hope will show up when things go wrong.

This week in Plumstead, two of those helpers showed up when they were needed most.

An 82-year-old woman had fallen out of bed and couldn’t get up. Her bedroom door was locked from the inside, and her daughter wasn’t able to reach her. With no idea what to do next, she called a local security company, ZONE Security.

Officers Gavin and Lindani were dispatched and within minutes, they were at the house, assessing the situation and figuring out how they could help.

Eventually, they gained access to the locked room and found the elderly woman on the floor.

They waited there with her until the ambulance arrived.

Falls are often a cause of serious injury for the elderly. Having someone show up and say ‘You’re okay. We’re here’ can make a big difference.

When she received medical attention, it was confirmed that the lady hadn’t suffered any serious injuries and was given the all-clear.

The company later shared the story, showing love to Gavin and Lindani for their care and professionalism.
