Janine Komal is a certified proud mom, and rightfully so! Her son has been selected as part of a small, elite group of top academic performers at his school to take part in an Academic Excellence Tour to Australia this year.

Johannesburg, South Africa (26 January 2026) – In the demanding journey of parenthood, few things bring more joy than seeing a child flourish. It’s a moment of pride that Janine Komal is currently basking in, following the impressive academic achievements of her son, Nishé.

The Greenside High School learner has been selected as part of a small, elite group of top academic performers in the school to take part in an Academic Excellence Tour to Australia in December 2026.

“He is the first child in our family to have the opportunity to travel abroad because of his hard work and dedication,” Janine tells us.

“This opportunity is awarded purely on academic merit and recognises dedication, discipline and hard work. During the tour, learners will be exposed to international academic environments, cultural experiences and enrichment activities designed to broaden their perspectives and support their academic and personal growth.”

The incredible opportunity, like most, comes with a hefty price tag. A payment of R78,740 is required to cover travel, accommodation and educational programme expenses.

“While this is a life-changing opportunity, it is also a significant financial challenge for our family,” Janine says.

The school has officially endorsed and supported this journey, including authorising fundraising efforts to help make participation possible.

With her son standing on the brink of a golden opportunity, Janine has now turned to friends, family, acquaintances and kind-hearted members of the public for support.

“We really don’t want him to miss out on this chance. Every donation brings Nishé one step closer to an experience that could open doors, inspire confidence, and shape his future in meaningful ways. Your support means more than words can express.”
