A South African, who is in possession of five university degrees, including a PhD, is now a senior lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. He tweeted his story of success.
South Africa (23 June 2021) – South African, Dr Katlego Mthimunye shared his unconventional story of success to inspire current and upcoming students.
Mthimunye wanted to prove that there is no one path to success and shared a story on his Twitter page of how he got to where he is without the previously disadvantaged education system standing in his way.
The quick-witted Mthimunye says he is a senior lecturer in the United Kingdom and schools some of the most intelligent students in the world.
The senior lecturer and researcher at the University of Hertfordshire is in possession of five university degrees, including a PhD.
“A product of previously disadvantaged basic schooling, No Matric exemption, but hold 5 university qualifications including a PhD,” he tweeted.
“I occupy a Senior Lecturer position in one of the top universities in the UK teaching some of the best brains from around the world.”

In a previous interview with IOL he said he had a goal of achieving his PhD before the age of 30, and with hard work, commitment, compromise and many sleepless nights, he achieved the dream.
“If you are able to do this, your journey towards earning your PhD will be a pleasant one,” he said.
