When he noticed a child’s unresponsive body floating in a nearby pool, a patrolling security officer dropped everything and dived into the water to rescue and resuscitate him, bringing the little one back from the brink in the most critical moments.

Umhlanga, South Africa (24 November 2025) – A precious young life is on the road to recovery after a frightening drowning incident, all thanks to the quick actions of a dedicated security officer, apparently known as “Happy”, who had been patrolling the promenade at the time.

Recognising the urgency of the situation without a moment’s hesitation, he bravely jumped into the pool and pulled the unresponsive child to safety.

With compassion and urgency, he began performing CPR while waiting for additional medical support, as reported by Marshall Security.

It is reported that the young child had fallen into a swimming pool at a holiday complex on Lagoon Drive in the Umhlanga area on Friday afternoon, 21 November.

Another security officer summoned nearby lifeguards, who assisted in resuscitating the child. Netcare 911 paramedics were contacted and arrived on scene within minutes, taking over medical treatment. After providing advanced life support, the child was stabilised and transported to the hospital for further care.

“Thanks to the fast reaction and decisive action of our officer, the child is expected to make a full recovery.

“Marshall Security commends this officer for his quick thinking and courage, a true reflection of the dedication our teams demonstrate. Real security is about more than alarms and patrols; it is about people who genuinely care. This incident is a powerful reminder of why choosing a security company that goes above and beyond the call of duty can make all the difference when seconds matter,” Marshall Security said.

The heroic moment has brought a wave of relief and admiration from social media users who praised the security guard’s swift actions and delicate care in saving a child.

One user commented:

“What a hero, may you always be blessed and proud of yourself for helping this child. Thank you, Marshalls, for the training that you’ve given to your employees. May this precious child make a full recovery.”

While another person wrote:

“What an incredible man, you can see in his eyes what a beautiful human he is. Thank you sir. You deserve the world.”

And one more added:

“The guard is a Crusaders Rugby 1st team player, newly recruited earlier this year. His nickname is ‘Happy’. He is a good young man with a bright future ahead of him. Thank you, Marshall, for giving him an opportunity as well! Incredibly proud of you, Happy! Well done!”

The Good Things Guy joins the many in commending this brave security guard who demonstrated true bravery and compassion, not for recognition, but to save a life that desperately hung in the balance.
