The Santa Shoebox Project team are on the search for Santa’s helpers! If you want to be a part of a movement that makes sure thousands of underprivileged children will receive gifts and goodies next Christmas, then read on!
South Africa (21 January 2025) — Whether you still have a festive brain or simply love the idea of spending your spare time as a Santa’s helper in anticipation of the next Christmas, then we’ve got good news for you: The Santa Shoebox Project are on the lookout for Santa’s Helpers!
Being a Santa Shoebox Project volunteer means being one puzzle piece and part of a much bigger picture that’s all about compassion, kindness, and the joy of giving.
Every year, the Santa Shoebox Project reaches thousands of children across Southern Africa who otherwise would not receive any gifts over the festive season. The gifts they receive come in the form of gorgeously decorated and donated shoeboxes that brim with essential goodies and some fun treats, depending on the age of the child.
Last year, a whopping 74,751 shoeboxes were delivered to children in need!
To put the work that goes into something like this into perspective, consider the effort it takes to deliver gifts to your loved ones over the festive season. Now, imagine distributing those tens of thousands of times over!
It’s a big task, which is why Santa’s Shoebox Helpers are such an important part of the journey from box to beaming child.
The Assignment:
The Santa Shoebox Project is looking for helpers, ambassadors and volunteers to assist them in managing projects in their neighbourhoods.
This might mean building a team or joining one that already exists in your area. It also means deciding on beneficiary facilities, arranging deliveries on the shoeboxes when the time comes and, most importantly, being there to celebrate with the children when they receive their goodies!
The more Santa’s Shoebox Helpers there are, the more joy there is that can go around.
There are a few things the team look for in a volunteer. Regular internet access, reliability and organisational skills are just a few of the stocking fillers.
You can find out all the details about becoming a volunteer here. You’ll also be able to see if there are teams in your area and where the gaps are for new Santa Shoebox Teams to be formed.
