While travelling to Wattville, a grandmother found a wallet containing several bank cards and R500 in cash left behind on a taxi seat. What followed was a heartwarming mission to locate the rightful owner, and SA cannot stop celebrating this kind magogo!

Wattville, South Africa (25 November 2025) – There may be chaos, struggle and many unfavourable forces at play in our crazy-beautiful world, BUT one thing remains certain: there are still good people out there.

One honest grandmother has left Mzansi singing her praises after she helped a woman get her lost wallet back.

According to a post shared on the Wattville Youth Talks Facebook group, the grandmother had found a wallet with several bank cards and cash to the total of R500 in a taxi seat while headed to Wattville near Benoni.

After suspecting it may have accidentally been left behind by one of the commuters, the gogo and her grandson soon got in touch with Irvin, who moderates the Facebook group which relays and shares important community notices and news affecting Waterville youth.

Thanks to their efforts, Irvin was able to locate the rightful owner.

“I found her [owner] and her items were returned to her yesterday. To verify, she produced her ID to match names on her bank cards, and Gogo remembers her very well from the taxi,” said Irvin, who ensured no chancers got their hands on the wallet in question.

Irwin publicly thanked the grandmother for her kind act of Ubuntu.

“Gogo, you’re the most honest person on earth. Thank you,” he said.

Hundreds of other social media users have since responded to the post with heartwarming words, honouring the wonderful gogo:

“I’ve seen many stories like this, but this one really warmed my heart. Gogo is an inspiration and a shining example of honesty. Thank you for sharing this beautiful story,” commented Philemon Jibudi.

“I really wish to know where Gogo stays, so that I can arrange a Christmas package for her! I’m more than impressed and inspired,” said Baleseng Masilo Molelu.

Gugu Ndlovu also commended the grandmother for leading by example, saying:

“Her grandson will grow up to be a very honest and honourable man one day. He learns from the best.”

Good Things Guy celebrates this dear gogo, whose simple yet profound act has highlighted the power of honesty, brought relief to a fellow taxi commuter and inspired us all!
