Elize Prinsloo Armoed goes above and beyond to make things #JustRight for people fighting cancer at Livingstone Hospital.
Port Elizabeth, South Africa – Sharon-Ruth Armoed shared her mother, Elize Prinsloo Armoed’s #JustRightDeeds story and she was selected as this week’s featured #JustRight Deed-er.
Elize works tirelessly to make sure that those fighting cancer don’t do so alone. She visits Livingstone Hospital every Thursday to go check in on the oncology patients and take them a goodie bag filled with creature comforts.
While she hands out the goodie bags, she sits with each person and catches up on how they are feeling and coping with their treatment. She makes a point to show that someone cares for them and is listening to what they have to say.
Elize relies on donations for the goodie bags but mostly, she funds them herself. She is often joined by her friend, Antoinette, and the two wash the patients’ hair or give them relaxing massages. But mostly, they offer their emotional support.
On one of their recent trips to the hospital, Elize brought along two big, juicy watermelons. She sliced them up and handed them out to the patients that had just finished their chemotherapy and radiation treatment sessions.
These treatment sessions are brutal and leave the patients physically drained. The Livingstone patients were so grateful to have something refreshing to nibble on while fighting bouts of nausea and fatigue.
“My mom has a passion for these precious people and she won’t stop fighting and praying for them. It’s her desire to see each patient walk out of that hospital completely healed” – Sharon-Ruth Armoed
Well done for bringing a little bit of #JustRight to those fighting the most significant battles, Elize!
