Must See: Woman takes her "other mother" on first ever holiday and flight

Antonette Van Duuren decided to celebrate her mother’s domestic worker to say thank you for the years of caring for her and making her the person she is today.

Cape Town, South Africa – Celebrating 35 years together and her 70th birthday, Antonette took Christinah Nkosi (Skiena) to Cape Town for her very first holiday as a way to say thank you. The big birthday celebration trip has inspired so many people.

“Christinah (“Skiena” as I called her since toddler age) has a smile on her face every day. She never complains and has a heart of gold. So what inspired me? She did! I believe in spoiling people and showing gratitude when they change your life. She has been a very big part of my life and this was just a small present compared to how I feel about her.”

Skiena has worked for Antonette’s family for 35 years and she says Skiena played an integral part in who she is today. This is why she wanted to take her on her very first holiday for her birthday.

While on their holiday, they went to Sunset Beach for a photo shoot. Skiena loved every moment of it and when they were set to return home, she had tears of joy from all she got to see. Antonette confirmed that they were both an emotional mess as the plane took off back to Johannesburg.

“Gosh, what an emotional trip home. As the plane ascended into the perfect Cape Town skies, Skiena cried and thanked me for this trip. I cried even harder and soon Kulula had 2 cry babies on board. While looking through all the photos the tears kept rolling as it was evident we shared so many good moments together this week.

My dad fetched us from the airport and she thanked my dad for everything and yet again we balled our eyes out. As my dad said as well she has done so much for me, she deserved this in tenfold.”

Antonette has received praise from thousands of Facebook users for making such a wonderful trip happen for Skiena. Both ladies will cherish this trip for the rest of their lives.

“It is such an honor to know Skiena, I am grateful to have such a remarkable woman in my life. She is loved dearly by me, my family and my friends.

I want to personally thank my mom Martie van Duuren for not only booking our hotel, but also for being such an amazing woman in my life. She and Skiena are super women and when together they are the most powerful, indestructible team! Thank you mom for teaching me to be good to others and give back to those who change our lives.

Thank you also to everyone for all the support and kind words. You helped make this trip a journey! May you be blessed abundantly!”
