Ride Joburg 2025 brought the city alive as families, friends, and social riders cheered along the way, while Kim le Court and Jaedon Terlouw claimed top honours as the women’s and men’s winners

Johannesburg, South Africa (27 October 2025) – If you were not a cyclist, getting around Joburg on Sunday might have felt like a test of patience. Road closures meant to keep the race safe turned the city streets into a sea of colourful jerseys and excited spectators as the highly anticipated 947 Ride Joburg hit the streets. Families, friends, and everyday cyclists came out not just to watch, but to participate in the energy, with homemade signs and cheers.

Of course, the elite riders were the main attraction. Mauritian champion Kim le Court capped off her incredible season with a dominant performance on the women’s side, using strategy and skill to conquer the climbs and keep spectators on the edge of their seats. South African mountain biker Jaedon Terlouw turned the technical finale into a showcase of daring and precision, sliding past competitors on a tight corner with a move that had the crowd erupting.

But Ride Joburg was not just about the podium. It was about the city coming alive for cycling. Social riders, friends racing alongside each other, and supporters cheering from the side-lines made the event a celebration of movement, community, and fun. Signs waved and encouragement of families mingled with the focus of the pros, creating a vibe that reminded everyone why cycling is more than a sport, but a shared experience.

And while the winners took home the R200 000 prize money, the real story was the energy, camaraderie, and passion spilling into every street and neighbourhood. Ride Joburg 2025 proved that the race is as much about the people as it is about speed, strength, and strategy.
