South African netball players based in Australia and the UK delivered standout performances this past weekend, with big wins and individual brilliance across top leagues.
Global (31 March 2026) – Ever wondered how many South African netball players are out there lighting up different leagues around the world? South African netball talent continues to make waves across the globe, with players based overseas delivering standout performances in both Australia and the UK this past weekend.
Elmeré van der Berg- Adelaide Thunderbirds
Over in the Suncorp Super Netball, Elmeré van der Berg was in unstoppable form as her Adelaide Thunderbirds side cruised to a commanding 73–46 victory over the Queensland Firebirds.
It marked a third straight win for the team and their biggest winning margin yet. Van der Berg led from the front with an incredible 44 goals, continuing her red-hot streak and cementing her place at the top of the scoring charts.

Shadine van der Merwe- Loughborough Lightning
Meanwhile, in the Netball Super League, it was another action-packed round featuring a strong South African presence across multiple teams.
Shadine van der Merwe played her part as Loughborough Lightning lit up the court with an 83–69 win over Birmingham Panthers. Making this the highest team score recorded so far this season.

Nicola Smith- Manchester Thunder
At the same time, Nicola Smith helped Manchester Thunder maintain their push at the top with a convincing 78–53 win against Nottingham Forest, where Rolene Streutker and Ané Retief featured.

Jamie Golob- London Mavericks
There was also a tightly contested clash where Jamie Golob’s London Mavericks edged out Dragons 58–54, with SPAR Proteas captain, Khanyisa Chawane on the opposing side.

Kamogelo Maseko- London Pulse
And to round things off, Kamogelo Maseko helped London Pulse secure a solid 61–52 victory over Leeds Rhinos, featuring Sanmarie Visser.
