South Africa is hosting the 2023 Davis Cup Africa Group III Tournament in Pretoria this week and already, they are making us proud!

 

Pretoria, South Africa (10 August 2023) – South Africa is the host for the 2023 Davis Cup Africa Group III Tournament. Matches are currently underway and already South Africa is flying the flag high!

South Africa’s tennis stars have been working their way up the global rankings so having the chance to watch them play locally, is a big one.

South African captain Christo van Rensburg, Dylan Salton, Philip Henning, Devin Badenhorst and Leo Matthysen are playing in the tournament this year, going against talented sportsmen from Benin, Algeria, Namibia, Senegal, Togo, Ivory Coast, and Zimbabwe.

According to Tennis South Africa, the Davis Cup, often referred to as the World Cup of Tennis, is the premier international team event in men’s tennis. It is organised by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and contested annually in a knockout format between teams from participating countries. With it being hosted in South Africa this year, excitement is high!

Spectators are welcome to join at the University of Pretoria to cheer on South Africa. The games will take place every day until the 12th of August.
