Chapman’s Peak has been voted as the fifth most beautiful road trip route in the world by the Pentagon Motor Group.
Cape Town, South Africa (07 July 2021) – Everyone loves a good road trip and as some say, sometimes the journey is the destination. That is very true if you get to drive along Chapman’s Peak in the Western Cape. The Pentagon Motor Group created a list of the ‘most beautiful road trip routes’ in the world.
From Australia’s Great Ocean Road to America’s Route 66, the world loves a classic road trip which is why the Pentagon Motor Group complied a list of the top 20 beautiful road trip routes around the world.
Most of the routes on the list either go past a stunning ocean view or over a magnificent mountain pass. From rolling waves to rolling hills!
If you could have your pick, would it be a beachside drive or a mountain top meander?
Chapman’s Peak, which technically celebrates both the views of the ocean and a mountain pass was listed 5th on the list.
“This stretch is affectionately known as “chappies” in Cape Town, South Africa. It winds between Noordhoek and Hout Bay along the Atlantic Coast right at the tip of South Africa’s south-western coast. The spectacular driveway took 7 years to complete and was first built in 1922, however has since undergone major work to improve the road for tourists.” – Pentagon Motor Group
We are always happy to share good news about South Africa and love when we feature on the top travel lists. If you are not in the area, maybe start planning an epic road trip through SA and be sure to add Chapman’s Peak to your “must-see” list.
