Cheers around the Mother City’s most popular table! The famous cableway welcomed its 33 millionth visitor this week.
Cape Town, South Africa (17 December 2025) – The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway (TMACC) celebrated a major moment this week when it welcomed its 33-millionth visitor since operations began almost 100 years ago in 1929.
The special visitor was Thabiso Letsoalo from Limpopo, who was visiting Cape Town with his partner, Ofentse Huma, when the pair were surprised at the Lower Cable Station and officially named the 33-millionth guests to take the cable car all the way to the top.
“It was such a lovely experience, the shock and thrill of the surprise made it even more special. We are having a great time and it’s definitely one of those memories we’ll keep forever. Cape Town is just different and so beautiful compared to where we’re from, which is why we keep coming back,” said Letsoalo.
Even more remarkable is the fact that TMACC welcomed both its 32-millionth and 33-millionth visitors this year. Fitting milestones to happen in one of the world’s best cities.
The cableway has welcomed a fair share of royalty and VIPs over the years, including Oprah Winfrey, musician Sting, actor Famke Janssen, actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, and singer Kelly Rowland. Just a few of the famous names who have taken a ride to the top of the mountain.
“Reaching 33 million visitors since the start of operations in 1929 is incredible for TMACC. Welcoming both our 32 and 33 millionth visitors in the same year is truly remarkable. Achieving this milestone in the same month that our Twelve Apostles Terrace was recognised as Africa’s Best MICE Event Venue (in the World MICE Awards) amplifies the significance of this moment for us,” said Wahida Parker, TMACC’s Managing Director.
